ABOUT
Why Support Indies?
We celebrate independent publishing because these presses dare to be different. While mainstream publishers chase trends, independent presses champion unique voices, experimental works, and stories that deserve to be told. Each book from an independent publisher represents a labor of love – carefully curated, thoughtfully edited, and beautifully designed. At Palm Palm Books, we specialize in connecting readers with these sometimes hidden gems.

From avant-garde poetry to mind-bending fiction, from radical theory to gorgeous art books, our collection showcases the incredible diversity of independent publishing. Every purchase supports not just our bookstore, but the entire ecosystem of independent publishing – the editors who take chances on unknown authors, the designers who craft beautiful books, and the small teams who pour their hearts into every title. When you choose an indie press book, you’re not just buying a book – you’re supporting a more diverse, dynamic, and daring literary world.

What do you consider an indie publisher?
For our purposes, an independent publisher maintains full creative and financial autonomy, free from corporate ownership or institutional control. While they may partner with larger companies for distribution, indie presses make their own editorial and business decisions, control their publishing list, and maintain high quality standards. University presses and vanity publishers are not included.
Contact Us
How do I make contact?
You can contact Kate Thomas at kate@sixpenny.org
Can I send you my book?
If you are one of our featured publishers, we welcome any and all information about your upcoming titles! We spent a long time trying to find materials for books we can recommend and we always love if that is easier. If you are a publisher and we missed you for our list, please send us your catalog on Edelweiss and we look forward to taking a look.
About Palm Palm Books
Where are you located?
We are an experimental online bookstore with a provisional ABA membership, and we use Bookshop.org for fulfillment.
Our site raises funds for our future book truck of small press and under-hyped books soon to roam the jungles of Florida. We are based in Sarasota, FL. We have one year (2025) to raise funds for a book truck in order to be granted full membership with the ABA and Bookshop.org. We can also do events—we have the same ordering accounts as a brick and mortar store.
Why not just open a brick and mortar store we can come visit !?
It’s not financially feasible, we don’t have the capital and our focus on independent titles would not be sustainable in our small city. Kate, the owner, spent several years managing an indie bookstore and has been working in bookstores since the age of 15. So she knows some things 🪴
Do you have a zine? What is the what?
Yes, and we will be publishing it again as soon as we have our book truck. You can see previous issues at www.pennyzine.co.The zine is published and the store is owned by Sixpenny, LLC.
